Our Top 3 First Dances
Wednesday 11th November 2015
2015 has been an absolutely cracking year for your favourite Indie Rock Covers Band, Alive. We've had the pleasure of meeting so many great people and playing music for their special day. We've also had a lot of intertesing song requests to keep us on our toes, so we decided to pick our top 3 first dance tracks from 2015.
1. Van Morrison - Crazy Love
This slick track from Van Morrison requires a delicate touch. It has a nice soulful progression, which leaves things open for improvisation and feel. We hadn't heard the track before, so it was refreshing to play and was the perfect choice for a first dance. We came straight out of this with 'Shake Your Tail Feather' by Ray Charles to ensure everyone was up dancing from the word go!
2. Eagles - Love Will Keep Us Alive
Another song we were (ashamedly) unaware of! Along with the slide guitar parts, the harmonies absolutely make this song. The best man, Dan, took the lead vocal part for this one while our very own Damo and Simon provided the second and third part harmonies. A beautiful song with lots of emotion, which we thought was a fitting starting point for a wedding party.
3. The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun
We certainly knew this one - if we didn't, I wouldn't blame you for wondering if we had been tucked away in a cave for most of our lives with nothing but sticks and stones to keep us musically inspired! We played this acoustically sans vocals while the bride walked down the aisle. As with many of the Beatles classics, the guitar part for this song speaks for itself, so it was a great feeling to play this classic as the Bride made her way to the Groom. It doesn't get much better than this....Enjoy!
